Recording

When I’m not recording sample libraries, I’m recording anything and everything else.
My gear is hand-picked for its versatility, portability, and great sound.

I’ve personally engineered hundreds of sampling and recording sessions over the past decade, from guitars to gayageums, ophicleides to oboes, I look forward to helping you capture your sound the way it deserves. In addition to common microphone techniques, I also have experience with ambisonics, adjustable-pattern capture, and a wide range of extended recording techniques to provide flexibility in post.

My audio recording setup is paralleled by a selection of equally compact and powerful full-frame cine cameras and precision lenses hand-chosen for their exceptional optical and visual qualities, to ensure you look every bit as exceptional as you sound.

Working With Me

What makes my work different from other engineers & videographers?

Holistic, Musician-based Approach

As a trombonist and multi-instrumentalist, I’ve spent my fair share of time on the other side of the mic and lens. I know exactly how it feels to spend long hours with nothing but an empty hall as company, and I know how stressful it can feel to try to get the ‘perfect’ take.

My first responsibility is to ensure the best recording possible, and that starts with having an open, relaxed attitude. I am here for you and your music, not for my own glory. I’m here to listen and do everything in my power to make sure you look and sound your best.

Yeah, this is actually a photo of me!

World-Class Sound & Visuals

Just as your voice as a musician is unique, so is the voice of every microphone, lens, and engineer. I’ve collected a broad range of top-shelf mics and lenses which deliver uniquely powerful, rich sound and visuals.

From the clinical purity of laboratory measurement microphones and apochromatic lenses to the rich warmth of ribbon microphones and vintage Nikkor lenses, there’s a color for every occasion, instrument, and performer.

Over a Decade of Experience

Since 2013, I’ve been developing sample libraries of hundreds of different instruments, modern and historical. If there is a way to put mics on something, I’ve probably tried it. I’ve spent hundreds of hours listening to each and every instrument in the orchestra and then some, every different note and technique imaginable.

I have also spent hundreds of hours recording some of the top soloists in the world, working with them to identify and explore their ideal sound concept.

This deep ‘meditation’ into sound gives me a unique insight into recording and the role of space, instrument, and equipment in achieving a beautiful sound.

Properly managed cables!

Clean, Compact Setup

My entire setup is not only sub-compact but completely battery powered, meaning it can go anywhere, record anything, and stay out of the way while doing so. Custom-length cables are carefully laid, not tossed on the ground or left in giant coils. Miniature cinema cameras discreetly and silently capture every detail in immaculate 4K UHD even in low light.

No road cases, no mixers, no giant cameras strapped to oversized tripods, no “control room” with a ghostly voice on the other end of the line.

Let’s record!
